Dr. Aruna, whose real name is Arunachalam Angappan, is a retired Professor of English with an illustrious academic and literary career spanning over three decades. He taught English Language and Literature in India for twenty-eight years and in Yemen for five years before retiring in 2004.
A respected scholar, educator, and poet, he has supervised doctoral research for sixteen scholars and has contributed significantly to contemporary Indian English literature. His poetry collections, Vibrant Moments I, II, and III, have earned recognition both nationally and internationally.
In 2005, Dr. Aruna delivered a Special Address on Appreciation of Poetry at the World Poetry Festival in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, where he was also honored as one of the recipients of the Best Poet Award. His poems have appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies across India and abroad.
His work has transcended linguistic boundaries, with selected poems published bilingually in English and Chinese by the Literary Taiwan Foundation and translated into Malayalam by the Kerala Sahitya Academy.
Today, Dr. Aruna continues to engage readers through his writings, offering insightful explorations of humanity, relationships, memory, and self-discovery.
